• MAKE YOURSELF AN ARK
GENESIS 6:1-22•-God told Noah to make for himself an ark of cypress wood-Because God wanted to judge/destroy the people of that time -Animals, birds & other moving creatures were also destroyed-Due to their evil and great wickedness -Except Noah who got the favor before God -•
What Made Noah Find Favor from God
– His Godly Standard of Living
– But also due to his obedience to the instructions
Before I go further, I would like us to note that the Ark we are talking about according to Genesis 6; in the NT it represents our SALVATION– HEB. 2:1-4
This is saying therefore, as Noah was given instructions to follow in the making of the ark, we are also instructed on what to do regarding our Salvation in Christ ••3 Godly Standard of Living (Our Take Home Lessons)
1. Noah was a Righteousness Man
2. Noah was a Blameless Man
3. Noah Walked with God
Ethically, this is saying Noah practiced Justice, Integrity, and Holiness.
Holiness – being the concept of single-minded devotional to God and absolute ethical purity. Holiness is not only considered zeal for God but also purity, accountability, and humility (Hill, 2008•
•The Benefits of Making Your Own Ark
– It allows God to establish His covenant with you
– It will serve and protect you from the judgement of God
– Your people may be served through your ark -Your ark can be used to serve the other generation/creation -Your ark will not be swept away by the flood of water/challenges even though the water may increase – Ref. GENESIS 7:17
•Conclusion •
If we decide to live according to the 3 biblical standards of living – we will definitely find favor in the eyes of God.
• Let’s us remember that we live in the days where we need to seriously make our own ark•It is our own ark that will serve us from the judgment of God as we are encouraged in REVELATION 3:11 – to hold on to what we have so that no one will take our crown – the ARK/our SALVATION.
•AND, this can only happen if we are righteous, blameless before God, and walking with God all the days of our life.
